![]() ![]() Though my computer sounds like a jet fighter because of the blower, it performs at its maximum speed. Now, when I convert the same 800 MB AVI file, it only takes around 30 minutes to complete it and it’s a big difference. I can even hold it after removing it from the processor socket. Though the blower is very noisy, it has a very good effect on my processor. Here’s the image of what my blower looks like. It spins extremely fast at a steady speed and even if it is connected to the board, it still stays at the same speed which means the board no longer controls its speed. This modification creates a big effect on the blower. The thermal device connected from the inside where the exhaust air comes out was replaced with a different capacitor. It is the same model though but got modified from the inside. I just bought from a person a modified version of the blower since I badly needed it. With this setup, I used to convert an 800 MB AVI file to another format in more than 1 hour sometimes 1 hour and 30 minutes tops.īut when the blower of my processor just stopped working one day and I needed to replace it with another one, I noticed a big difference. I have an old DELL computer running only on Pentium 4 3.06 GHz Hyper Threading with only 768 MB RAM. I can attest to the effectiveness of the cooling system with what happened to my old computer. ![]() ![]() Installing an excellent cooling system for the processor greatly decreases the data processing time because the heat that the processor produces is greatly released creating a good circulation of air. Another factor is the cooling system of your CPU particularly the one focused on your processor. If you have a fast processor, 512 MB RAM, and 1.5 GB AVI, it will still take you hours before you finish the whole conversion.Īdding more RAM improves the speed of the conversion. But that depends on the capacity of the installed RAM. If you have a fast processor, it will surely process data at the shortest possible time. There are factors that affect the speed of the conversion and it doesn’t only rely on the speed of the processor. If you're doing multiple (batch conversions), keep an eye on duration before deleting any originals. If you want to know how long it will take to complete a conversion of a 1.5 GB AVI file to MKV format that would depend on the capacity of your computer. If you're converting a single video at a time - I would recommend the latest version. So this thing runs "hot" vs other Video Converters I've used.ĭespite these short-comings, I really like this application. The conversions themselves are fine but xMedia Recode doesn't always pass the correct values to the job list (so far we're talking duration only).Īnother, smaller issue is the CPU usage which is always at 100% even when CPU Priority is set to the lower levels. Basically whatever appears on the job list (duration, conversion type, etc) is what you're going to get at the end. It doesn't happen all the time but often enough in my testing when loading and placing in the job list. ![]() It seems to take the duration of one of the videos (let's say 11 minutes) and force that duration on all other videos (even if the other videos are an hour long). When the list gets highlighted and added to the JOB list, you'll see the duration shortened. When loading a few videos for batch conversion, the program analyzes the selected files and you'll see specs for each video listed (including START and END times = duration). WARNING: I'm not certain how the previous versions handled multiple files (job list) but I'm working with version 2.2.9.7 and it fails to convert the complete video on many jobs I've given it. ![]()
