Southwest Community Concert Band– this local band dedicates performances several times a year to collect food and cash donations for the Food Pantry. Letter carriers in Orland Park bring those donations to Orland Township, which are then unloaded from the mail trucks, sorted and shelved by an army of volunteers, to be distributed to local families in need. National Association of Letter Carriers Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive – every year, on the second Saturday in May, letter carriers across the country collect bags of non-perishable food items left next to residential mailboxes by generous community members. Team Orland Township Food Pantry receives a monetary donation from the Greater Chicago Food Depository for each pre-registered team member. The Township provides bus transportation, leaving from the Township office, to the walk site and back. Complete with raffles, celebrity judges and the Golden Ladle Trophy for the winners, this popular event has become a community favorite!Īnnual Greater Chicago Food Depository’s Hunger Walk – residents can join Team Orland Township Food Pantry for this scenic 2-mile walk along Chicago’s lakefront. Orland Township’s Annual Soup-er Bowl Challenge – this fun annual competition allows residents to showcase their special soup recipes in a soup cook-off with other residents and local restaurants. The Food Pantry participates in several annual events and is the grateful recipient of proceeds from other events, all of which contribute to its mission to provide food for families in need.
